This spring, we’re thrilled to announce a partnership with England’s finest sparkling wine, Nyetimber.
Ripened by the British sunshine in the South of England, the grapes in Nyetimber’s 11 vineyards share similar characteristics with the best sparkling wine vineyards in the world. As the pioneer of English sparkling wine, Nyetimber planted their first vines in 1988 and ever since, the greensand and chalk soils of the Sussex, Hampshire and Kent vineyards have allowed the vines in each of their sites to flourish. The climate allows for a long growing season, allowing the grapes to achieve optimum levels of ripeness and acidity, as well as the complexity and finesse for which Nyetimber’s exquisite wines are renowned.
Nyetimber’s Head Winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, and her Senior Winemaker husband Brad Greatrix assess each handpicked vineyard individually – from choosing the optimal time to harvest the grapes and supervising their gentle pressing to eventual vinification. This meticulous attention to detail allows them to make the most informed blending decisions.
All Nyetimber’s wines are crafted according to the traditional method, ageing them for extended periods of time to build complexity and flavour, and allowing for generous post-disgorgement time before release.
From now until September, Nyetimber will be offering a bespoke sparkling wine menu on Angler’s rooftop terrace, overlooking lively city streets and fantastic sunsets. This exclusive sparkling wine menu is perfect for pre or post dinner drinks and perfectly complements Angler’s best of British renowned canapes by Craig Johnston.
