Summer is quickly approaching, and the weather is starting to brighten up, so what better way to get out and explore the East End than with a South Place Bike.
When you stay with us, you can use our bicycles free of charge to go and explore our local neighbourhood. All of our bikes come with a helmet and lock so that you can jump on and off and make the most of the sights! New to London and need some inspiration of where to explore? We’ve gathered a few of our personal favourites for you.
East London is famous for its amazing street art with new art appearing every day! Artists from all around the world have made their marks upon the walls that stretch from Brick Lane to Hackney – with art ranging from Banksy in the yard of Cargo, to the ‘Lets Adore and Endure Each Other’ tribute to the late Bob Hoskins (referring to his lead role in the 1986 neo-noir film Mona Lisa).
Hoping to learn some history on your tour of East London? Visit what remains of London’s original Roman Walls. From around 200 AD, the shape of London was defined by this one single structure: it’s massive city wall. From Tower Hill in the East to Blackfriars Station in the West, the wall stretched for two miles around the ancient City of London. Start from Nobel Street and follow the wall to Tower Hill Postern Gate. For more information, find the route here.
If you want to enjoy a cocktail whilst taking in the beautiful views of London, then take a ride to our sister venue Madison. Here you will need to park up the bike and take the lift up to the bar and restaurant. But before you head straight to the bar, we recommend you take a look at the One New Change viewing point, where you can see out on St Paul’s Cathedral as well as some of London’s iconic buildings – including The Shard.
If you happen to stay with us over the weekend, we recommend cycling across to Columbia Road Flower Market on a Sunday morning. Open from 8am until 3pm, the street is transformed into an oasis of foliage and flowers – with a mix of stalls, cafes and art galleries – you’ll be able to make a day out of it!
So what are you waiting for – get on your bike and enjoy the sights of this beautiful City.
