Our Head Pastry Chef, Nelson Barros and Sous Chef, Evaldas Juska, have made their way onto the big screens to feature on this year’s Bake Off: The Professionals.
Nelson moved to the UK in 1997, where he developed his passion for cooking, immediately starting his Chef NVQ apprenticeship. It was in 2003 when he developed his true passion for pastry, whilst working at the three-Rosette restaurant, The Latymer. Since then, Nelson has worked in a variety of highly acclaimed restaurants throughout the UK, until 2017 – when he was headhunted to join South Place Hotel as Head Pastry Chef.
Evaldas came second in the ‘Best Lithuania Chef’ competition, and was then selected to compete in the ‘Young Chef Olympiad’ competition in Luxembourg – as part of the Lithuanian National Culinary Team.
These star bakers have a great working relationship, with Nelson putting all his trust into Evaldas in maintaining his high standards when he is out of the kitchen.
